Project overview


Action 21 attends lots of local community events to showcase our projects and tell people how they can get involved in what we do.  We also run Dr Bike sessions where we provide free Bicycle MOT’s and run fun activities to encourage children to ride their bicycles.

Principal Function of Volunteer


To help out preparing or running activities for children or adults at these events.

Tasks and Activities

As a volunteer you will carry out some or all of the following activities, depending on your individual capabilities and preferences. This list is only a guide to the types of activities that may be required.

  • Plan and design different activities to engage children and/or adults
  • Run activities with our education officer

This one-off volunteering activity provides a very simple and easy way to do something positive in your community, learn more about Action 21’s activities and have fun!

Skills/Qualifications/Experience sought


No particular experience or skills are required as full training and support will be provided.  We ask individuals to be enthusiastic about the role.

Time commitment required

  • Event Dates Min 2 hour shift 
  • For most of these events we ask volunteers for a minimum of a 2 hour shift.  For events further afield where transport is limited we may ask volunteers to help out for the whole day.
  • Dr Bike events Various
  • 2010 & Beyond - Wednesday, Thursday, Friday June 2010 - Full day  
  • The Peace Festival - Saturday and Sunday June 2010-  10am – 4pm
  • Warwick Races -  Sun 6th Sep 09 10am – 7pm

Training, Reviews & Support

  • Registration session with Amy, The Volunteer Development Worker to provide an overview of Action 21 and what volunteering on our projects involves.  Also gives you a chance to ask any questions you may have.
  • Project Induction with Amy, supporting volunteers in how to promote Action 21 to the general public.  This may be on the phone, via email or face to face, depending on what’s appropriate.
  • Support on the day by Action 21 staff in attendance at the event

Expenses


You can claim back reasonable expenses for travel.  How you go about claiming back these costs will be explained in more detail during your induction.  We can also usually provide a lunch voucher for your time.
