Community Liaison Volunteer

Project overview

We need volunteers to help us communicate with the local community about our projects and things going on within their area.  Sometimes we need to send out a poster or leaflet recruiting volunteers for a particular event or to tell local residents about an upcoming project.  We’d also like volunteers to help raise the profile of Action 21 in Warwick District by talking about us and what we do.

Principal Function of Volunteer

To visit community centres, schools, religious centres like churches and mosques, day centres, hostels, libraries and anywhere that people congregate to put up posters or leaflets or just to have a chat to spread information by word of mouth.

Tasks and Activities

As a volunteer you will carry out some or all of the following activities, depending on your individual capabilities and preferences. This list is only a guide to the types of activities that may be required.

  • Speaking to staff and community leaders about Action 21 projects or local green events
  • Putting up posters and in community venues and on community notice boards
  • Giving leaflets to people interested in volunteering

Benefits

This volunteering opportunity gives you a chance to promote sustainability and Action 21, whilst visiting local community venues and finding out what else is going on in the area.  If you don’t have a bicycle we can lend you an Action 21 bicycle to help you get around.

Skills/Qualifications/Experience sought

No particular skills or experience are required as full training and support will be provided.  A familiarity of the local area is desirable but not essential.

Minimum age: 18

Time commitment required

Variable.  This role can be very flexible, fitting in with your diary, although it should be noted that some community venues are only open during office hours and so this may limit when you can help out.
