Action 21 Themes
Action 21 has volunteer theme groups who organise and run projects to promote sustainability in the areas of food, energy, education, transport and recycling. Theme groups also have an input to the larger scale activities that Action 21 pursues and each group is represented on the Board of Directors. Energy - The Energy Group exists to promote the sustainable use of energy, including renewable energy and energy efficiency, through a programme of education, influencing, disseminating and monitoring activities in the district. The energy group's pages also have guidance on sustainable construction techniques.
Food - The Food Group aims to promote the growing, cooking and eating of fresh, locally grown food, organic where possible and GMO-free to all sections of the community
Recycling - The Recycling Group aims to minimise the environmental impact of waste by direct engagement with the waste producers - that's all of us
Transport - The Transport Group are interested in promoting sustainable, accessible and affordable transport
